An Exhibition on the History of Archaeological Excavations in Türkiye Opens in Ankara

Today, October 21, in Ankara, within the framework of the 2nd Meeting of the Association of Archaeological Research Institutes and Centers of the Turkic World (ARICA), an exhibition on the history of archaeological excavations in Türkiye, based on archival photographs from the Turkish Historical Society, was opened. The event also featured a presentation highlighting the organization’s archaeological research and activities across the Turkic world.

The opening ceremony was attended by the President of the Turkic Academy Shaim Mustafayev, Rector of Hacettepe University Mehmet Cahit Güran, President of the Turkish Historical Society Yüksel Özgen, President of the Atatürk Supreme Council for Culture, Language, and History Derya Örs, as well as archaeologists and scholars from Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Türkiye, Hungary, and Mongolia.

The exhibition showcased rare archival photographs illustrating the development of archaeological research conducted in Türkiye since the early 20th century. During the presentation, participants discussed the activities of the Turkish Historical Society in the field of archaeology and its cooperation with research centers across the Turkic world. It was emphasized that joint research and the exchange of scientific experience play a vital role in preserving and studying the shared historical and cultural heritage of the Turkic peoples.
