New Publications of the Turkic Academy Presented in Bishkek in Kyrgyz Language

On September 25, Bishkek hosted the presentation of new publications of the International Turkic Academy, organized within the framework of the Kyrgyz Republic’s chairmanship of the OTS. The event showcased scholarly works translated into Kyrgyz over the past two years, as well as books and studies prepared as part of the Academy’s recent projects.

Among the featured works were remarkable monuments of Turkic intellectual heritage. The classic study Ulugh Beg and His Era by academician V. V. Bartold sheds light on the life of the great ruler and scientist who made a profound contribution to science and culture. Azerbaijani statesman Mahammad Amin Rasulzade’s The Republic of Azerbaijan recounts the history of the first republic of the Turkic world — the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic (1918–1920). The work of Abdurauf Fitrat, one of the founders of modern Uzbek literature, Memoirs of an Indian Traveler (The True Face of Bukhara), offers a vivid portrayal of Bukhara’s life during that period. The first volume of the anthology History of the Philosophical and Political Thought of Turkic Peoples includes the works of prominent ideologists, enlighteners, and thinkers of the Turkic world. Also presented was an experimental edition of Chingiz Aitmatov’s novella The White Steamer, published in the common Turkic alphabet.

For the first time, a wide Kyrgyz audience was introduced to one of the Academy’s most unique undertakings — the scientific album-monograph Petroglyphs of Egiz-Kara and Ak-Tash in Batken Region of Kyrgyzstan. This publication systematically brings together the petroglyphs of Batken, enriched with detailed scholarly commentary and high-quality illustrations, unveiling the deep history of the ancient Kyrgyz people who once lived in the region.

The event also highlighted terminological dictionaries initiated and published by the Turkic Academy, alongside analytical reports addressing key areas of cooperation among Turkic states. These reports cover issues such as economic ties, transport and energy connectivity, food security and sustainable development, water resources and collaboration, as well as education and scientific partnership.

Distinguished participants included Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic Edil Baisalov, President of the International Turkic Academy Shahin Mustafayev, President of the National Academy of Sciences of the Kyrgyz Republic Kanat Abdrakhmatov, Advisor to the President of the Kyrgyz Republic and Chair of the Commission on the Development of Historical Science Arslan Koichiev, Director of the B. Yunusaliev Institute of Linguistics of the NAS KR Syrtbay Musaev, Professor of Kyrgyz-Turkish University “Manas” Kubatbek Tabaldiev, as well as representatives of the academic and cultural community.

In his address, President of the Turkic Academy, Prof. Dr. Shahin Mustafayev emphasized that the Academy is implementing major scientific and cultural initiatives aimed at strengthening cooperation among Turkic states and peoples.

“These works not only broaden the horizons of scientific collaboration, but also contribute to the consolidation of Turkic identity and the preservation of our shared cultural heritage. Each of the initiatives presented today supports the development of Turkology in Kyrgyzstan and reinforces the bonds of brotherhood between our nations,” Mustafayev stated.
