Annotation: This research project, scheduled for 2024–2025, aims to comprehensively examine the family customs of Turkic peoples, focusing on child-rearing traditions, wedding ceremonies, mourning practices and funeral rites. Fifteen scholars will study the familial traditions of communities including Altai, Azerbaijani, Bashkir, Kazakh, Kumyk, Kyrgyz, Uzbek, Tatar, Turkish, Turkmen, Tuvan, Khakas, Chuvash, Shor and Yakut. By integrating historical practices with contemporary realities, the project seeks to understand how these unique traditions strengthen kinship bonds, ensure social cohesion and shape the ideals of youth among Turkic societies.
