II Working Meeting on the Academic “History of Turkic States” Took Place in Almaty

On September 10-11, the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University in Almaty hosted the second working meeting organized by the Turkic Academy, dedicated to the preparation of a unified academic work on the history of the Turkic states.

The event brought together President of the Turkic Academy Shahin Mustafayev, Rector of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University Zhanseit Tuimebayev, President of the Turkish Historical Society Yuksel Ozgen, Member of the Council of Elders of the Organization of Turkic States Ikram Adyrbekov, as well as heads of institutes of history and archaeology from member and observer states of the OTS, leading scholars, and experts.

In his remarks, President of the Turkic Academy, Prof. Dr. Mustafayev, emphasized the importance of joint efforts by scholars to create a fundamental work that will present the rich historical heritage of the Turkic peoples in a systematic and objective manner.

During the working meeting, the participants discussed in detail the draft structure of the two volumes of the Monograph, exchanged proposals, and agreed on the composition of international working groups for specific sections. As a result of the meeting, the draft structure was reviewed and provisionally approved, international working groups were formed, and a work plan was agreed upon.

It should be recalled that the idea of drafting a common history of the Turkic states was first announced at the XI Summit of the Organization of Turkic States, held on November 6, 2024, in Bishkek. By decision of the Heads of State, the project is coordinated by the Turkic Academy. The first working meeting within this initiative took place in Ankara in February of this year, resulting in the signing of a Protocol of Cooperation. At that time, the general plan and concept of the work were reviewed, a decision was made to prepare a two-volume publication, and national commissions from each participating country were formed.
