Declaration on Common Turkic Alphabet

The Turkic Academy is pleased to publish the Declaration on Common Turkic Alphabet adopted during the third meeting of the Turkic World Common Alphabet Commission, which took place from 9 to 11 September 2024 in Baku.

The Declaration is prepared and adopted in English. To facilitate accessibility and understanding, the English version of the Declaration on the Common Turkic Alphabet is accompanied by unofficial translations in Azerbaijani, Kazakh, Kyrgyz, Turkish, and Uzbek.

The Commission works under the auspices of the Turkic Academy and in coordination with the Secretariat of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS). The Commission comprises members whose appointments have been formally communicated through the foreign ministries of OTS member states and observers.

The Commission makes its decisions through regular dialogue and consultation processes and by consensus among the Commission members. Commission decisions are advisory in nature and serve to provide recommendations to the relevant authorities.
