The meeting was attended by members of the Council of Elders of the OTS, theSecretary General of the OTS Kubanychbek Omuraliev, the President of the Turkic Academy Shahin Mustafayev, as well as government and public figures, heads of international organizations and representatives of the diplomatic mission.
The opening speech was made by the Chairman of the Council of Elders Binali Yıldırım, the Secretary General of the OTS Kubanychbek Omuraliev, the President of the Turkic Academy Shahin Mustafayev and Elders from the member states of the Council.
In his speech, the President of the Turkic Academy Shahin Mustafayev informed the audience about the work done by the organization in order to coordinate the development of a common Turkic alphabet and terminology. Both directions have been noted in the document “Turkic World Vision - 2040”, adopted at the VIII Summit of the Heads of States of the OTS in 2021.
Shahin Mustafayev noted that, as a part of the work in this direction, the Turkic Academy created a Commission on a Common Alphabet under the coordination of the OTS Secretariat, with the official participation of representatives of government agencies of the OTS countries responsible for language policy and experts recommended by them.
The first meeting of the Commission on a Common Alphabet was jointly organized by the Turkic Academy and the Turkish Language Association under the Atatürk Supreme Council for Culture, Language and History on May 29, 2023 in Astana, the capital of Kazakhstan.
During the meeting, the Council of Elders shared with the Secretariat of the OTS their opinions and recommendations regarding the agenda and decisions to be made at the upcoming anniversary summit of the OTS, which will be held in Astana, Kazakhstan.
