The President of the Academy took part in the UNESCO sub-regional conference

The event was attended by representatives of Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, Great Britain, Japan, Tatarstan (Russia) and Iran.

The purpose of the conference is to identify cultural heritage sites to be submitted for the Serial Transnational Nomination "Silk Roads: Volga-Caspian Corridor", to discuss relevant documents with government representatives, national coordinators, local and international experts from 5 countries of the corridor.

Within the framework of the conference, officials of the countries included in the project, experts from the World Heritage Center, the Turkic Academy, Teikyo University of Japan, London University College and the International Institute for Central Asian Studies exchanged their views on the nomination documentation.

The importance of the large-scale program of Serial Transnational Nomination "Silk Roads: Volga-Caspian Corridor" initiated by the UNESCO World Heritage Committee was discussed at the event. Emphasizing the importance of the program in promoting the rich cultural heritage of the countries located on the Silk Road, the participants noted the important role of this highway in the life of the countries through which it passed - not only in the economy, but also in the cultural sphere.

Further, experts from Azerbaijan, Iran, Kazakhstan, Russia and Turkmenistan made presentations on their work done within the framework of the project.
