The conference was organized by the Turkic Academy, the Representative Office of the Organization of Turkic States in Budapest and the Hungarian Ethnographic Museum. Along with the Head of the Academy, the meeting was attended by specially invited foreign scholars, Hungarian Turkologists, as well as the ambassadors of the Turkic states in Budapest. President of the Turkic Academy Shahin Mustafayev, who made a congratulatory speech, spoke in detail about the issues of studying shamanism, including the significance of the works by Vilmos Dioszegi, as well as about the influence of colonial policies on the tradition over shamanism, which is considered a common element of traditional culture of the peoples of Siberia and Mongolia. “All aspects of traditional and modern shamanism discussed here should be studied at the academic level. This would make it possible to understand the place and significance of shamanism in the history of our peoples, as well as in the social space of our countries and regions today”, he said. After the conference, Shahin Mustafayev visited the Hungarian Ethnographic Museum, where he met with the Director of the Museum, Lajos Kimecsi, who informed Sh. Mustafayev about the work carried out by the Museum and familiarized him with the exhibits. It worth noting that this museum is one of the leading museums of ethnography in Europe.
