Statement of the International Turkic Academy on the Situation in the Borders of the Kyrgyz Republic and the Republic of Tajikistan

The International Turkic Academy is deeply concerned about the tense situation on the state border of the Kyrgyz Republic and the Republic of Tajikistan and calls for a ceasefire, a peaceful settlement and an early stabilization of the situation through negotiations. The Turkic Academy condemns the use of heavy weapons against the civilian population and civilian infrastructure, as well as educational institutions, which led to human casualties, and expresses condolences to the families and friends of the victims. The Academy once again calls on the parties to the conflict to take all necessary measures to prevent further escalation of tension on the state borders of the two neighboring countries. The Academy sincerely hopes that both parties will take the necessary steps to overcome the current crisis and prevent future conflicts for the benefit of their peoples and all countries in the region.
