The Turkic Academy organized the international archaeological and cultural expedition "From Orkhon to Orkhan-Gazi"

This year, the expedition, which is being held for the fourth time, is organized in Bursa, the cultural capital of the Turkic world in 2022. On this occasion, the Acting President of the Turkic Academy, Fuzuli Majidli, who visited Türkiye, met with the participants of the expedition and gave detailed information about the important event. According to F. Majidli, the city of Bursa has great historical significance as one of the sacred places of the Turkic world. That is why the Turkic Academy dedicates its IV archaeological and cultural expedition to this region under the motto "From Orkhon to Orkhan-Gazi". "Such traditional international archaeological and cultural expeditions are conducted by the International Turkic Academy within the framework of the project "Sacred Places of the Turkic World". The expedition is intended to contribute to Turkological research by conducting scientific activities dedicated to the study and popularization of sacred places of great importance in the history and culture of the Turkic world. In this regard, our first expedition called "Altai - golden cradle" was organized in 2015 in Eastern Kazakhstan. In 2016, the second expedition called "From Tengritau to Otyuken" took place on the territory of Mongolia. In 2017, we conducted the third expedition in the Republic of Kazakhstan on the theme "From Kentai to Ulytau: updating historical memory". The Turkic statehood, the foundations of which were created in the Orkhon Valley, reached its heyday with the creation of the Ottoman state. Therefore, this expedition organized in Bursa has great symbolic significance," the Acting President of the Academy said. According to the program, the participants of the expedition will visit historical sites in the specified region. In particular, he visited the Ertugrul Mausoleum near Segyut, the Kyrgyz Mausoleum in Iznik, the famous Ulu Jami Mosque in Bursa. In addition, as part of the expedition, it is planned to hold an international presentation of the Kutlug-Kagan complex and inscriptions in his honor. Their discovery by the staff of the Turkic Academy and the Institute of Archaeology of the Mongolian Academy of Sciences has become the largest historical and archaeological discovery in the history of Turkology over the past 130 years. The expedition is attended by representatives of the intelligentsia, famous scientists from Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Türkiye, Hungary, Mongolia, the Republics of Tatarstan and Bashkortostan (Russian Federation). The Academy plans to hold the next expedition next year in the city of Shusha, the cultural capital of the Turkic world in 2023.
