President of the Turkic Academy Participates in UNESCO Event on Silk Road Heritage in Paris

On December 4, the President of the Turkic Academy took part in a UNESCO-organized event in Paris titled "Heritage and Intercultural Exchange: Architecture, Monuments and Urbanism along the Silk Roads." The gathering, part of an initiative to preserve cultural heritage and foster intercultural dialogue, brought together experts from around the world.

The event spotlighted the release of the second volume in the series "Thematic Collection of Cultural Exchanges along the Silk Roads" titled "Architecture, Monuments and Urbanism." This publication is the result of collaboration between UNESCO, the Nanjing Creativity Center and the Expo of World Historical and Cultural Cities in Nanjing.

Experts from the Netherlands, the United Kingdom, Azerbaijan, Egypt, Kazakhstan, China, Uzbekistan, Italy and France—many of whom contributed to the publication—gathered to discuss its contents and share fresh scholarly perspectives. These insights aim to deepen understanding of historical exchanges and their impact on contemporary intercultural dialogue.

As a participant in this UNESCO project, President of the Turkic Academy emphasized its importance in studying and promoting the Silk Road's rich heritage. In his address, he highlighted the historic city of Baku, exploring its role as a hub of trade and cultural exchange and its unique architectural and historical legacy.

Shahin Mustafayev underscored how Baku exemplifies the seamless coexistence of tradition and modernity, presenting a remarkable model of heritage preservation amidst urbanization.
