Turkic Academy Will Research Ahmet Yesevi's Legacy Together with Kazakh National University

The Turkic Academy, together with al-Farabi Kazakh National University, will expand the scope of scientific research towards the study of the legacy of Khoja Ahmet Yesevi. This news was announced today, on December 22, 2023, at the international conference "The Legacy of Khoja Ahmet Yesevi and the Values of the Turkic Peoples" organized by the Turkic Academy in cooperation with al-Farabi Kazakh National University.

It is worth noting that the event was dedicated to the 930th anniversary of the birth of Hodja Ahmet Yesevi.

The conference held in al-Farabi library was attended by Turkic Academy President Shahin Mustafayev, Advisor to the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Malik Otarbayev, Kazakh National University Chairman and Rector Zhanseyit Tuimebayev, Azerbaijani Prof. Dr. Fuzuli Bayat, Prof. from Türkiye Dr. İbarahim Maraş, many Turkologists and Orientalist scientists and students.

At the meeting, Advisor to the President of Kazakhstan Malik Otarbayev read the congratulatory letter of President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev. The letter says: "Khoja Ahmet Yesevi is an outstanding person who made immeasurable contributions to the development of Turkic civilization. It is very important to comprehensively study and disseminate his works that lead humanity to virtue. At the same time, it is desirable to organize educational and informative events. The Yesevi mausoleum in the city of Turkestan is an unshakable pillar and a valuable heritage for the brother countries. The state attaches great importance to developing this city. The fact that Yesevi Tomb was deemed worthy of the status of "National Monument of History and Culture" is a clear proof of this. I believe that today's meeting will lead to good initiatives and pioneering works."

Speaking at the opening ceremony of the conference, Kazakh National University Chairman and Rector Zhanseyit Tuimebayev said that Ahmet Yesevi is a very valuable scholar not only for the Kazakh people but for the entire Turkic world. Reminding that President Kasım-Jomart Tokayev also stated that it is important to celebrate Yesevi's anniversary this year, the Rector also said that for this purpose a special center or institute will be opened.

President of the Turkic Academy Shahin Mustafayev said: "Khoja Ahmet Yesevi has a special place in the cultural and spiritual life of the Turkic people. He contributed to the spread of Islamic civilization in Turkic lands. The work of the thinker Divani Hikmet is a valuable legacy for us. For this reason, the life and scientific works of the great scholar have a special place in the Turkish world."

After the opening ceremony, the event continued with sessions. Professors, Turcologists and Orientalists from Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkey and Tatarstan (RF) made presentations and shared their views on the research of the legacy of Khoja Ahmet Yesevi.
