International Conference in Turkestan Highlights the Legacy of Statesman Turar Ryskulov

Today, November 15, Turkestan hosted an international conference titled "Turar Ryskulov and the Idea of Turkestan." The event, held at Khoja Ahmed Yasawi International Kazakh-Turkish University, brought together representatives of the scientific and cultural communities, government officials, diplomats and experts from Turkic countries.

The opening address from the President of the Turkic Academy Shahin Mustafayev, highlighted the importance of studying the legacy of this remarkable political and public figure:

"A scholar, diplomat, and politician of international stature, Turar Ryskulov made significant contributions to the development of not only Kazakhstan and Central Asia but also Mongolia. His role in shaping the history of his country and the entire region is undeniable.

It is equally important to underline the historical relevance and vitality of the idea of regional integration, including in the scientific sphere, to which today’s independent states of the region are returning on a new historical cycle."

Shahin Mustafayev's welcome address was delivered by Timur Kozyrev, an expert at the Turkic Academy, who also presented a report on the collaboration between Turar Ryskulov and the renowned Turkologist, public figure and political leader Zeki Velidi Togan.

Another expert from the Turkic Academy, Akedil Toyshanuly, delivered a report on Turar Ryskulov’s work in Mongolia.

It is worth noting that the Turkic Academy had previously published a monograph in Mongolian titled "The Work of Comintern Representative Turar Ryskulov in Mongolia," along with a collection of archival materials related to this period of his life. Additionally, Turar Ryskulov's 130th birth anniversary has been included in the list of commemorative dates for 2024 celebrated by the Turkic Academy.

The international conference concluded with discussions and presentations highlighting Turar Ryskulov's role in regional history and the significance of his ideas for contemporary times.
