On November 5, 2022, the 39th meeting of the Permanent Council of TURKSOY was held in Bursa - in the cultural capital of the Turkic world.
The meeting was chaired by the Minister of Culture and Tourism of the Republic of Turkiye Mehmet Nuri Ersoy. The event was participated by the Acting President of the International Turkic Academy Fuzuli Majidli, the Secretary General of TURKSOY Sultan Raev, the TURKPA Secretary General Mehmet Sureya Er, the Minister of Culture of the Republic of Azerbaijan Anar Kerimov, the Minister of Culture, Information, Sports and Youth Policy of the Kyrgyz Republic Altynbek Maksutov, the Minister of Culture of the Republic Uzbekistan Ozodbek Nazarbekov, the Minister of Culture of Turkmenistan Atageldi Shamuradov, the Chairman of the Committee of Culture of the Ministry of Culture and Sports of the Republic of Kazakhstan Roza Karibzhanova, the Deputy Prime Minister of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC), the Minister of Tourism, Culture, Youth and Environment Fikri Ataoğlu. At the meeting the Ministers of Culture of the Turkic world held negotiations on the topical issues of agenda and made decisions on a number of important issues related to the future of the Organization, as well as the cultural and artistic life of the Turkic world. Speaking at the event, the Acting President of the Academy F.Majidli emphasized the important role of the Turkic Academy and the TURKSOY Organization in building up a cooperation between the fraternal countries in the field of science and education, culture and art. F. Majidli said that «The International Turkic Academy and TURKSOY, which were established in order to accelerate the integration of the science and education fields in the Turkic world, are in close and sincere cooperation. I am fully confident that institutional cooperation between two collaborating Organizations will continue. After all, we are like two sides of the same coin: on the one hand, science and education, on the other hand, culture and art». During the meeting the chairmanship in the Organization was transferred from Turkiye to Azerbaijan. As a result of the meeting, the relevant decision of the Permanent Council of TURKSOY was adopted. According the joint decision of the TURKSOY member countries in 2023 the 125th anniversary of the birth of the famous Kazakh composer Temirbek Zhurgenov, the 100th anniversary of the Kyrgyz folk artist Baken Kidikeyeva, the 150th anniversary of the Turkish folk poet Mehmet Akif Ersoy, the 1050th anniversary of the birth of Abu Rayhan Biruni and the 100th anniversary of the famous artist - Northern Cyprus painter Ismet Vehit Güney. Besides, the city of Shusha was declared as the cultural capital of the Turkic world in 2023 and the city of Anau - for 2024.
