On November 18, 2022, the President of the International Turkic Academy Shahin Mustafayev participated in the International Symposium «Scientific and cultural Exchanges along the Silk Roads», which was held online at the UNESCO Headquarters in Paris.
A presentation of scientific works of young scientists dedicated to the research of the Silk Road was held within the framework of the Symposium. The first presentation of research projects, carried out by the special grants in the field of ecology, science and technology, religion and spirituality, language and literature, art and music, economics and trade, the legacy of the Silk Road and contemporary issues, was presented to the attention of a jury consisting of famous scientists. It should be noted that the jury includes the Head of the Turkic Academy, Professor Shahin Mustafayev. The Vice Minister of Education of the People's Republic of China Weng Tiehui and the Assistant Director-General of UNESCO for Social and Human Sciences Gabriel Ramos shared a welcoming speech at the opening of the Symposium. After that the works of young researchers related to the Silk Road were presented and the opinions of the jury of a special grant, consisting of scientists from China, India, Mongolia, Kyrgyzstan, Azerbaijan and Lebanon were heard. This grant, implemented within the framework of the UNESCO Program «Silk Road», was given for the development of social and human sciences in 2021 with the support of the People's Republic of China`s National Commission for UNESCO with aim to research the history and heritage of the Silk Road. On March 1, 2022 the 2nd stage has been began. This remarkable initiative was undertaken in order to stimulate young researchers till the age of 35 to research the shared heritage of the Silk Roads. 12 research grants are planned in total.
