On June 1, the VII meeting of the Scientific Council of the Turkic Academy convened in the historic city of Shusha, Republic of Azerbaijan.
The meeting was attended by the President of the Turkic Academy Shahin Mustafayev, the Minister of Science and Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan Emin Amrullayev, the Vice-Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan Talgat Yeshenkulov, Ambassador of the Kyrgyz Republic in the Republic of Azerbaijan, on behalf of the Minister of Education and Science of the Kyrgyz Republic Kairat Osmonaliyev and Deputy Minister of National Education of the Republic of Türkiye Nazif Yilmaz, Minister of Higher Education, Science and Innovations of the Republic of Uzbekistan Konqratbai Sharipov, Deputy Minister of Preschool and General Education of the Republic of Uzbekistan Farhad Bakiyev and Deputy State Secretary for Higher Education at the Ministry of Cultural Affairs and Innovation Veronika Varga-Bajusz.
At the commencement of the Scientific Council, President of the Academy Shahin Mustafayev delivered an address summarizing the Turkic Academy’s achievements from the preceding year and outlined forthcoming activities for the current year.
It's worth noting that the Scientific Council convenes annually with the involvement of education ministers and is overseen jointly by the President of the Turkic Academy and the Minister of Education from a member state, who acts as the chairman.
The responsibilities of the Scientific Council encompass endorsing the orientations of scientific projects and the yearly operational plan of the Academy, guided by the report on the Turkic Academy's accomplishments.
During the meeting, an official endorsement was given to the comprehensive roster of events and milestones slated for 2024, alongside the compilation of books earmarked for publication and scientific projects by the Turkic Academy.
Furthermore, a protocol was signed during the meeting, formalizing the transition of chairmanship of the Scientific Council of the Turkic Academy from the Ministry of Education and Science of Kyrgyzstan to the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
Looking ahead, in 2025, a meeting of the Scientific Council is scheduled to convene in the city of Astana, Republic of Kazakhstan.
As part of an additional cultural program, members of the council toured schools in Fizuli and Shusha, besides participating in the international children's festival “Shusha - the pearl of the Turkic states”.
