Today, June 12, is the Day of National Mourning in Kazakhstan

By the order of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, the day of June 12, 2023 was declared a day of national mourning in connection with the death of people as a result of the forest fire in the Abay region.

On the day of national mourning, the State flag of the Republic of Kazakhstan will be flown throughout the country, as well as in diplomatic and consular offices of foreign countries. In addition, cultural events and entertainment programs on TV channels will be temporarily suspended. The Turkic Academy shares with the people of Kazakhstan their pain from the tragedy, and expresses sincere condolences to the families and friends of those who died from the catastrophic forest fire in the Abay region.
