Today is the birthday of the glorious son of the Hungarian people, a Turkologist, Doctor of Philology, Professor Istvan Kongur Mandoki.
He devoted his adult life to studying the ancient history of the Turkic peoples of Europe, especially Cumans, as well as that of Turkic-Hungarian relations. He also organized a number of research expeditions to the regions of Turkiye, the Volga region (RF), Kazakhstan and other countries of Central Asia, Mongolia. The Turkic Academy honors the memory of the outstanding Hungarian turkologist Istvan Kongur Mandoki. It is worth noting that Professor Istvan Kongur Mandoki was born on February 10, 1944 in the city of Karsak (Kartsag), which is the spiritual center of the Minor Cuman region (Kiskunshag) between the two large rivers of Hungary – the Danube and the Tissa. As a result of many years of his research work, the work "Monuments of the Cuman language in Hungary" was published in 1981. In 1993, he was awarded the Postumus Prize of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences for his comprehensive research on the culture of the Turkic peoples. He died in September 1992, and according to his own will, he was buried on Kazakh soil, at the Kensai cemetery near Almaty. The personal fund of the scientist, containing about 16 thousand books, is now stored in the library of the International Turkic Academy.
