Turkic Week is currently underway in Geneva (Switzerland)

On April 22, 2024, President of the Turkic Academy Shahin Mustafayev took part in the opening ceremony of the Turkic Week in Geneva.

The opening ceremony of a major event showcasing Turkic culture, art and the activities of Turkic organizations was held at the UN office.

The event, gathering guests from diverse countries, showcased an exhibition in collaboration with the International Organization of Turkic Culture (TURKSOY) and the Turkic Academy. It featured a range of cultural artifacts, handicrafts, paintings and photographs.

The significant historical event, unveiling the cultural richness of the Turkic world on the global stage, saw the presence of key figures such as Secretary General of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) Kubanychbek Omuraliev, Secretary General of TURKSOY Sultan Raev, President of the Turkic Culture and Heritage Foundation Aktoty Raiymkulova, Ambassadors and Permanent Representatives of the OTS Member States to the UN Office in Geneva along with members of Turkish Grand National Assembly and other distinguished officials.

During her address at the ceremony, Tatyana Valovaya, Director General of the UN Office in Geneva, highlighted that the exhibition vividly portrays the richness and diversity of the cultural heritage of the Turkic world.

During the ongoing Turkic Week until April 25th, an array of cultural and educational events is expected. These events are organized by the United Nations Office in Geneva, the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), and the Geneva Conservatory. They will involve collaboration with the Organization of Turkic States, TURKSOY, the Turkic Academy, the Turkic Culture and Heritage Foundation, and the Parliamentary Assembly of Turkic Speaking Countries.
