The conference was attended by scientists and researchers of higher educational and research institutions of the Turkic countries and other states.
During the event, the role of the Akkoyunlu state and its ruler Uzun Hasan, his great contribution to the history of the peoples of the South Caucasus, Iran, Iraq and other countries that became part of the Akkoyunlu state in the second half of the XV century, as well as the significance of the personality of Uzun Hasan in the world historical process were discussed.
Professor Hamlet Isahanlı, the founder of Hazar University and Chairman of the Board of Directors and Board of Trustees, greeted the participants and guests and emphasized the importance of the conference. Talking about the influence of history on our modern age, Isahanlı stated that writing objective history will have a positive impact on the resolution of contentious issues. Hamlet Isahanlı drew attention to the importance of the Akkoyunlu State in Azerbaijani and Turkic history and underlined that Uzun Hasan should be researched more comprehensively as a historical figure.
The plenary session was addressed by the President of the Turkic Academy Shahin Mustafayev, founder of the Khazar University, Chairman of the Board of Directors and Trustees Hamlet Isakhanli, Professor of the History Department of the University of Chicago John Woods, Professor of the Khazar University and the Institute of History of the National Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan Shahin Fazylov, Professor of the Department of Turkology of the Mongolian State University and Katib Chelebi University Danuugiin Ankhbayar, Professor of the Kazakh Language Department and Turkology of Nazarbayev University Uli Schamilogu, Professor of the Faculty of Literature of Istanbul 29 May University Feridun Mustafa Emecen, Professor of the Faculty of History of Baku State University Zabil Bayramli.
In his speech, the President of Academy Shahin Mustafayev said that this year the Turkic Academy celebrates the anniversaries of a number of historical figures of the Turkic peoples, such as the 800th anniversary of the Mamluk Sultan Beybars, the 600th anniversary of Uzun Hasan, the founder of the Akkoyunlu state, the 540th anniversary of the Mughal ruler Babur, who left an indelible mark in medieval history.
Shahin Mustafayev also noted that during the reign of the great statesman Uzun Hasan, the Akkoyunlu Empire turned into a powerful military and political factor throughout the Middle East, which, in turn, became a significant historical stage in the formation of the statehood of Azerbaijan. It was during this period, on his behalf, the work "Qanun-nama" was created the Oghuz chronicle "Kitabi-Diyarbekiriye" was written, and the translation of the Qur'an into Azerbaijani was also carried out.
