President of the Turkic Academy Addressed the 13th Meeting of the OTS Council of Foreign Ministers in Ankara

Today, on October 29, President of the Turkic Academy, Prof. Dr. Shahin Mustafayev participated in the 13th Meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS), held in Ankara ahead of the summit of the heads of state of the member countries.

The OTS Council of Foreign Ministers serves as a key mechanism for coordinating cooperation among Turkic states. Its work focuses on aligning common priorities, discussing current regional and international issues, and preparing decisions for consideration by the heads of state. An important part of this process is the coordination of specialized Turkic cooperation institutions, which promote collaboration across political, economic, cultural, educational, and scientific fields.

In his address, Shahin Mustafayev presented the Turkic Academy’s key achievements over the past four years. During this period, the Academy completed 41 research projects. Among its major accomplishments are the three-volume study “Sacred Geography of the Turkic World”, the nine-volume “Terminological Dictionary of Turkic Languages”, and five volumes of the “Türk Bitig” series devoted to ancient Turkic written monuments.

Mustafayev also highlighted the Common Turkic Alphabet, developed under the Academy’s scientific coordination. He emphasized the initiative’s importance in strengthening linguistic ties and fostering closer interaction among Turkic peoples.

“Integration cannot be built on aspirations alone. It requires reliable data, in-depth analysis, historical understanding, and decisions grounded in scientific knowledge,” Mustafayev stated.

Alongside its work in the humanities, the Academy is expanding its research into issues of practical importance for the region. These include water resources, food security, agriculture, and the economic development of Turkic states. This work aims to strengthen cooperation among research institutions and analytical centers and support the long-term objectives outlined in the “Turkic World Vision 2040” document.
