On May 13, the Museum of the Turkic Academy hosted an exhibition spotlighting the rich culture and lifestyle of the Karaims and Tatars residing in Lithuania.
The opening of the exhibition “Tatars and Karaims of Lithuania” was attended by the President of the Turkic Academy Shahin Mustafayev, the Ambassador of Lithuania to Kazakhstan Egidius Navikas, the director of the Turkish Cultural Center named after Yunus Emre Almagul Isina, the professor of the Eurasian National University named after L.N. Gumilev Miras Kosybaev, professor of Nazarbayev University Meiramgul Kussainova, professor of the Kazakh National Pedagogical University named after Abai Marlen Adilov, professor of the Eurasian Humanitarian Institute named after A. Kusainov Aslan Alimbaev, as well as other representatives of diplomatic missions.
During his address at the exhibition's opening, President of the Academy Shain Mustafayev highlighted the enduring significance of the historical ties between the Turkic and Lithuanian peoples, underscoring their integral role in European history. "In contemporary Lithuania, the Tatar and Karaim communities are integral components of Lithuanian society," Mustafayev remarked.
Exhibition participants enjoyed a rich cultural program, featuring displays of the national art of both Tatar and Karaim cultures, alongside the chance to savor unique dishes from Tatar and Karaim cuisine.
