The Turkic Academy has received with deep sorrow the news of the passing of the distinguished historian of the Turkic world, Prof. Dr. İlber Ortaylı.
An honorary member of the Turkish Historical Society and a member of the Board of the International Committee of Ottoman Studies, Prof. Dr. İlber Ortaylı left behind a remarkable scholarly legacy and made a valuable contribution to the activities of the Turkic Academy.
We express our sincere condolences to his family and loved ones, as well as to his students and colleagues. The bright memory of this outstanding scholar will forever remain in the hearts of the academic community of the Turkic world.
