The 8th Meeting of the Scientific Council of the Turkic Academy Held in Turkistan

Today, on 8 June, the 8th Meeting of the Scientific Council of the Turkic Academy was held in Turkistan. The Scientific Council is the governing body of the Academy and meets annually with the participation of senior representatives of the relevant ministries of the member states. Its mandate includes reviewing the results of the Academy’s activities, defining priorities for scientific work, and approving its main directions for future development.

The meeting was attended by President of the Turkic Academy, Prof. Dr. Shahin Mustafayev, Minister of Science and Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan Emin Amrullayev, Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan Sayasat Nurbek, Minister of National Education of the Republic of Türkiye Yusuf Tekin, Deputy Minister of Science, Higher Education and Innovation of the Kyrgyz Republic Durus Kozuev, Chairman of the Council of Higher Education of the Republic of Türkiye Erol Özvar, as well as representatives of the Academy’s observer states.

Opening the meeting, Shahin Mustafayev presented a report on the activities of the Turkic Academy for 2024–2025 and informed participants about the results of ongoing scientific projects.

The Head of the Academy noted that during the reporting period, dozens of joint research projects were implemented in the fields of linguistics, history, literature, economics, and sustainable development. Among the most significant achievements, he highlighted the completion of work on the Common Turkic Alphabet, the continuation of archaeological research in Kazakhstan and Mongolia, as well as the implementation of projects such as “Sacred Geography of the Turkic World,” “Encyclopedic Dictionary of Turkic Mythology,” “Catalogue of Ancient Turkic Inscriptions,” terminological dictionaries of Turkic languages, and the project “Turkic Enlightenment Movement.”

“In 2024–2025, dozens of scientific works, including monographs, dictionaries, and analytical reports, were published, and numerous international scientific events were held, contributing to the strengthening of academic cooperation and the promotion of the common intellectual and cultural heritage of the Turkic world,” said Shahin Mustafayev.

During the meeting, participants reviewed the results of ongoing research, publishing programs, and scientific initiatives aimed at studying the common historical and cultural heritage of the Turkic peoples, developing Turkology, and strengthening scientific cooperation among the states of the Turkic world. They also discussed the future work plan of the Turkic Academy.

One of the key outcomes of the meeting was the handover of the Chairmanship of the Scientific Council of the Turkic Academy. According to the decision adopted, the Chairmanship was officially transferred from the Republic of Azerbaijan to the Republic of Kazakhstan.
