The official closing ceremony of the “Aktau – Cultural Capital of the Turkic World” year took place in the city of Aktau, located in Kazakhstan’s Mangystau region.
The event was attended by Minister of Culture and Information of the Republic of Kazakhstan Aida Balaeva, Secretary General of the International Organization TURKSOY Sultan Raev, Chairman of the Council of Elders of the Organization of Turkic States Binali Yıldırım, Vice-President of the Turkic Academy Bülent Bayram, as well as the ministers of culture of TURKSOY member states, heads of international organizations, and prominent figures of culture and arts.
Throughout 2025, the Caspian coastal city, which held the status of Cultural Capital of the Turkic World, became a venue for numerous international cultural, scientific, and creative events. During the festive concert summarizing the year, artistic ensembles from Azerbaijan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Türkiye, and Turkmenistan performed alongside artists from Kazakhstan.
At the conclusion of the ceremony, the flag of the “Cultural Capital of the Turkic World - 2026” was officially handed over to the historic city of Andijan in Uzbekistan.
