President of the Turkic Academy Attends Presentation of Books on Azerbaijan’s Cultural Heritage

President of the Turkic Academy, Prof. Dr. Shahin Mustafayev, attended the presentation of the books “Azerbaijan’s Heritage on UNESCO Lists” and “The Ganja Khanate: Coin Minting and Monetary Circulation”, held at the Central Scientific Library of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences (ANAS) in Baku.

The publications focus on Azerbaijan’s historical, cultural, natural and intangible heritage, as well as the history of the Ganja Khanate, its numismatic heritage and monetary circulation. The books were authored by Mustafa Shabanov, First Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan.

The event brought together representatives of the leadership of ANAS, the National Commission of Azerbaijan for UNESCO, the Ministry of Culture of Azerbaijan, the diplomatic community, and scientific and cultural organizations.

Speaking at the event, Shahin Mustafayev highlighted the Turkic Academy’s long-standing cooperation with the National Commission and recalled the international conference held in 2024 to promote the joint nomination of monuments of the Turkic World to UNESCO lists.

The President of the Turkic Academy also highlighted the scholarly value of the publications. He noted that “Azerbaijan’s Heritage on UNESCO Lists” brings together, for the first time in a single volume, information on different forms of the country’s heritage, while the study of the Ganja Khanate contributes to a deeper scholarly examination of its numismatic history and traditions of statehood.

Participants in the presentation highly appreciated the scholarly and historical-cultural significance of the publications, noting their contribution to documenting Azerbaijan’s heritage and presenting it to a wider international audience.
