President of the Turkic Academy Shahin Mustafayev took part in the 8th General Assembly of the Union of National Academies of Sciences of the Turkic World (UNASTW), held in Baku as part of the events dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the National Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan (ANAS).
The central theme of the Assembly was “Scientific Cooperation between the Academies of Sciences of the Turkic World: Reality and Prospects.” The event brought together participants to discuss current issues in developing joint research and strengthening academic cooperation among member countries.
The meeting was attended by the heads of the national academies of sciences of the Turkic states, including President of the National Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan Isa Habibbeyli, President of the Turkish Academy of Sciences (TÜBA) and current Chair of UNASTW Muzaffer Şeker, President of the Academy of Sciences of Uzbekistan Shavkat Ayupov, Vice-President of the National Academy of Sciences of Kazakhstan under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Askar Zhumadildayev, President of the National Academy of Sciences of the Kyrgyz Republic Kanatbek Abdrakhmatov, as well as representatives of scientific and academic circles.
In his speech, President of the Turkic Academy, Prof.Dr. Shahin Mustafayev, noted that the Academy, together with the UNASTW, has laid a solid institutional and intellectual foundation for further strengthening scientific integration among the countries of the region. He emphasized the key areas of the Academy’s activities within the framework of UNASTW, including projects aimed at fostering academic cooperation, supporting joint research, creating shared scientific databases, and promoting educational and youth initiatives in the Turkic world.
“The implementation of systemic initiatives demonstrates that science is becoming one of the most dynamic and unifying areas of cooperation among Turkic states,” noted the head of the Academy. Following the meeting, a decision was made to admit the Academy of Sciences of Uzbekistan as a member of the UNASTW.
