ASTANA. September 29. Today, at L.N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University, the International Turkic Academy held a presentation of the translation of the work “The Great Battle that Changed the Course of History – Çanakkale 1915” into Kazakh, Kyrgyz, and Uzbek languages.

The scientific seminar was attended by Vice-Rector of L.N. Gumilyov ENU Ardak Beisenbay, Vice-President of the Turkic Academy Askhat Kessikbayev, Third Secretary of the Embassy of the Republic of Türkiye in Kazakhstan Fethi Şahin, diplomats of the embassies of Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan, as well as representatives of the academic community.

At the opening of the event, Vice-President of the Turkic Academy Askhat Kessikbayev conveyed the welcoming address of the Academy’s President Shahin Mustafayev and emphasized the historical significance of the Battle of Chanakkale for the Turkic world.

“Chanakkale is not only a military victory, but also a symbol of the Turkic peoples’ determination for independence and a point of revival of historical consciousness. The Battle of Chanakkale became a turning point, when the people of the Ottoman state, in its most difficult period, demonstrated unity and resilience. Without this victory, today we would not be speaking of an independent Republic of Türkiye and a strong Turkic world. Therefore, passing down the lessons of this battle to future generations is our common duty,” noted A. Kessikbayev.

Furthermore, Vice-President of the Academy stressed that the new translation is not only about conveying the content of the book, but also about passing on the heroic legacy of Chanakkale to the younger generation of Turkic peoples.

As highlighted during the meeting, the book thoroughly covers the military-strategic dimensions of the Chanakkale battle, the destinies of people at the front, as well as acts of heroism and sacrifice. Within this framework, participants delivered reports and exchanged views. The publication is expected to contribute not only to strengthening historical consciousness, but also to fostering unity and cooperation among the Turkic peoples.
