President of the Turkic Academy Spoke at the Meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the OTS in Gabala

Today, on October 7, in the Azerbaijani city of Gabala, a meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers was held on the eve of the 12th Summit of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS).

The meeting was attended by the foreign ministers of Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Türkiye, Uzbekistan, Hungary, and the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, as well as OTS Secretary General Kubanychbek Omuraliev, Chairman of the OTS Council of Elders Binali Yıldırım, President of the Turkic Academy Shahin Mustafayev, TURKPA Secretary General Mehmet Süreyya Er, TURKSOY Secretary General Sultan Raev, President of the Turkic Culture and Heritage Foundation Aktoty Raimkulova, President of the Turkic Investment Fund Baghdad Amreyev, and President of the Union of Turkic Chambers of Commerce and Industry Mammad Musayev.

In his remarks, the President of the Turkic Academy, Prof. Dr. Shahin Mustafayev noted that the year 2025 marks a special milestone in the history of the Academy - its 15th anniversary. He emphasized that the organization has implemented dozens of research projects in the fields of Turkic history, language, and culture, thereby forming a solid scientific foundation for Turkic integration. In 2025, the Academy published more than 50 scholarly works, including monographs, dictionaries, encyclopedias, and analytical studies, among them The Catalogue of Turkic Runic Inscriptions and The Sacred Geography of the Turkic World.

President also highlighted the growing importance of the Academy’s analytical work, noting that such studies as Economies of the Turkic States - 2024, Food Security and Sustainable Development in the Turkic Countries, Regional Overview: Water Resources and Cooperation for Sustainable Development in the Turkic States, and TurkBarometer - 2024 provide scientifically grounded recommendations aimed at shaping effective regional policies.

He also spoke about expert meetings held in Ankara and Almaty, which were aimed at consolidating the academic community and advancing the History of the Turkic States project, endorsed at the Bishkek Summit in 2024.

The head of the Academy further touched upon ongoing archaeological research in key historical regions - in the Nomgon Valley (Mongolia), the ancient city of Jankent (the capital of the Oghuz Yabghu State), and the Mangystau region. He underlined that supporting young scholars remains one of the Academy’s core priorities.

“Supporting young researchers is among the key directions of the Turkic Academy. The annual Summer School of Turkology brings together young scholars from across the Turkic world. This year, the school was held in the city of Khankendi (Karabakh), symbolizing the unity of the Turkic world through science and education,” the President noted.

Concluding his speech, Shahin Mustafayev emphasized that the Turkic Academy will continue to expand its scientific, educational, and analytical activities, strengthening the intellectual foundations of Turkic integration and serving as a hub of knowledge, ideas, and innovation for the benefit of all Turkic states.
