On January 20, 2023, during his visit to Turkey, the President of the Turkic Academy Shahin Mustafayev met with the Director General of the International Research Center for Islamic History, Culture and Art (IRCICA) Mahmud Erol Kılıç.
At the meeting the parties discussed the ways of strengthening cooperation between the Turkic Academy and IRCICA, and also exchanged their views on research and promotion of common values of the Turkic world and Islamic civilization. The President of the Academy noted the great contribution of the Turkic peoples to the development of Islamic culture and said that the Turkic Academy is ready to conduct research in this direction. In his turn, Prof. M.E. Kılıç expressed support for this initiative and noted that there is an opportunity to use the manuscripts preserved in the IRCICA library. It should be noted that a Memorandum of cooperation has been previously signed by the International Turkic Academy and IRCICA. In 2017 the Turkic Academy together with IRCICA organized the international exhibition "Islamic calligraphy regarding the Silk Road" as part of the 1st Summit of the OIC Ministerial Standing Committee on Scientific and Technological Cooperation (COMSTECH), held in Astana.
