Renowned archaeologist, researcher of the ancient and early medieval history of Azerbaijan and the Caucasus, educator and popularizer of science Goshgar Goshgarlı has passed away.
In addition to his comprehensive work Typology of Tomb Monuments of the Antiquity in the Territory of Azerbaijan, Goshgar Goshgarlı made a substantial contribution to the study of the Silk Road and international trade in the historical development of the Turkic world. He authored the opening chapters of the collective monograph Azerbaijan on the Silk Road, which examines the early stages of global trade routes spanning from the Mediterranean to the East Asia. Alongside his academic work, he was actively engaged in educational and outreach activities, helping to promote knowledge of the ancient history of Turkic peoples.
The Turkic Academy extends its condolences to his family, colleagues and the entire academic community of the Turkic world. The scholarly legacy of Goshgar Goshgarlı will continue to contribute to the study of the shared historical heritage of the Turkic world.
