On 20–21 May 2025, the Informal Summit of the Heads of State of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) was held in Budapest, the capital of Hungary.
Held under the theme “Meeting point of East and West,” this historic gathering marked the first-ever summit of the OTS at the level of Heads of State convened on the territory of an Observer State.
The Summit was attended by President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, H.E. Ilham Aliyev, President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, H.E. Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, President of the Kyrgyz Republic, H.E. Sadyr Zhaparov, President of the Republic of Türkiye, H.E. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, H.E. Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Secretary General of the OTS, H.E. Kubanychbek Omuraliev. The meeting was chaired by H.E. Viktor Orbán, Prime Minister of Hungary.
During the Summit, the Heads of State held in-depth discussions on strengthening cooperation within the Turkic world and exchanged views on pressing regional and global issues. A number of documents aimed at enhancing multilateral collaboration were signed following the meeting.
In parallel with the Summit, a meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers was also convened, during which relevant decisions were adopted.
