International Exhibition on the Legacy of Attila Opens in Budapest

On 22 January, an exhibition titled Attila opened at the Ceremonial Hall of the Hungarian National Museum in Budapest as part of the Day of Hungarian Culture. The exhibition is organised by the Public Collections Centre of the Hungarian National Museum in cooperation with the Hungarian Turan Foundation.

The opening ceremony was attended by Hungary’s Minister for Culture and Innovation Balázs Hankó, President of the Turkic Academy Shain Mustafaev, Secretary-General of TÜRKSOY Sultan Raev, President of the Public Collections Centre of the Hungarian National Museum Gábor Zsigmond, President of the Hungarian Turan Foundation András Zsolt Bíró, and Chief Curator of the exhibition Benedek Varga, along with members of the diplomatic corps and representatives of the academic and cultural communities.

The exhibition is the result of extensive international collaboration. It features more than 400 works of art and historical artefacts drawn from the collections of 64 Hungarian and international museums. The materials span approximately 1,600 years of history and cultural heritage, tracing the image and legacy of Attila from the Hunnic period to the present day.

The opening ceremony also included artistic performances, with a musical composition by Bálint Bársony and a dance performance by Attila Tókos and Zoltán Zsuráfszky Jr.

The exhibition is presented at the Hungarian National Museum as part of a broader cultural programme aimed at examining historical heritage and its role in shaping collective memory.
