A Joint Declaration was Proclaimed on the Study and Preservation of the Historical and Cultural Heritage of the Turkic World from the Perspective of UNESCO

On March 14th and 15th, a conference was convened in Baku on the initiative of the Turkic Academy, together with the Turkic Culture and Heritage Foundation, the National Commission of the Republic of Azerbaijan for UNESCO, and the Turkish National Commission for UNESCO, in collaboration with the Secretariat of the Organization of Turkic States, the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TİKA), and the Institute for Development and Diplomacy of the ADA University.

At the conclusion of the two-day event, a joint declaration was proclaimed on the study and preservation of the historical and cultural heritage of the Turkic world from the perspective of UNESCO.

The new document includes a range of commitments aimed at working closely with UNESCO and other international organizations. These commitments focus on implementing relevant conventions, standards and programs to recognize and protect the historical and cultural heritage of the Turkic world, which includes the shared history, traditions and cultural elements of Turkic peoples across various regions.

The new declaration received unanimous support from the representatives of the National Commission for UNESCO, scientists and academic figures and was signed by Secretary-General of the Organization of Turkic States Kubanychbek Omuraliyev, President of the Turkic Academy Shahin Mustafayev, President of the Turkic Culture and Heritage Foundation Aktoty Raiymkulova, Secretary-General the National Commission of the Republic of Azerbaijan for UNESCO Seymur Fataliyev and Secretary-General of the Turkish National Commission for UNESCO Öcal Oğuz.
