Presentation of a Research Project and Exhibition Opens in Astana, Dedicated to Southeastern Anatolia

On January 14, the National Museum of the Republic of Kazakhstan in Astana hosted the presentation of a research project focused on the Southeastern Anatolia region of Türkiye, along with the opening of the exhibition “SHAFT. Archaeological Excavations of Hidden Threads”, a solo exhibition by artist Daria Nurtaza (Kokonja).

The event was organized with the support of the Embassy of the Republic of Türkiye in the Republic of Kazakhstan. Among the participants were Vice Presidents of the Turkic Academy Askhat Kessikbayev and Bülent Bayram, Academy experts Akedil Toishanuly, Nurbolat Bogenbayev, and Nurdin Useev, as well as representatives of the diplomatic corps and the cultural community.

The exhibition focuses on textile art and its historical dimension, addressing the interaction of time, material, and artistic expression. Textile is presented not only as a form of artistic practice but also as a carrier of cultural memory.

The concept of the exhibition is based on the term shaft, an archaeological test pit used to study cultural layers. In the exhibition, this concept is used as an artistic approach to reveal hidden meanings and traces of the past. The exhibition also includes materials collected during the artist’s research trip to Southeastern Anatolia.
