Regulations on Electoral Cooperation of Turkic States Signed in Turkistan

Today, in Turkistan (Kazakhstan), Regulations on the Advisory Platform of the Central Election Authorities of the OTS Member States were signed.

The event was attended by the heads of electoral bodies from Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Türkiye, Uzbekistan and Hungary, as well as representatives of OTS, A-WEB, TurkPA, members of the Kazakh Parliament, scholars from Turkic countries and Vice President of the Turkic Academy Askhat Kessikbaev.

As part of the event, an international scientific and practical conference on "The Turkic World: Traditions, Practices and Prospects for the Development of Electoral Systems" was held, organized jointly with the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

Speaking on behalf of the President of the Turkic Academy, Prof. Dr. Shahin Mustafayev, Askhat Kessikbaev spoke about the Academy's work in the field of electoral studies, including its participation in international election observation in OTS countries and the implementation of comparative research on civic engagement as part of the "Turkic Barometer" project.

On the sidelines of the conference, an exhibition was organized where the central electoral bodies of OTS countries presented their publications. The Turkic Academy also showcased its publications from recent years, underscoring its significant contribution to advancing scientific research and promoting the exchange of knowledge within the Turkic world.

It is worth noting that the creation of the Consultative Platform was initiated by the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, at the 10th OTS Summit in Astana on November 3, 2023. The initiative received unanimous support from the leaders of Turkic states and was included in the Bishkek Declaration of the 11th OTS Summit, signed on November 6, 2024.
