Tribute Paid to Ambassador and Turkologist János Hóvári in Budapest

On 22 January 2026, President of the Turkic Academy Shahin Mustafayev, Secretary General of TURKSOY Sultan Raev, and Executive Director of the Representation Office of the Organization of Turkic States in Hungary Balázs Hendrich visited the cemetery in Budapest where Ambassador János Hóvári is laid to rest and laid flowers in honor of his memory and his contributions to Turkology.

Ambassador János Hóvári (1955–2023), a distinguished diplomat, scholar, and Turkologist, served as the first Executive Director of the Representation Office of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) in Hungary. In this role, he played a key part in establishing the Budapest office, strengthening cooperation between the OTS and European partners, and fostering academic and cultural ties between Hungary and the Turkic world.

During the visit, the participants paid tribute to Hóvári’s life and work, emphasizing the enduring significance of his contributions to the development of Turkology, the promotion of cultural dialogue, and the advancement of international cooperation.
