On March 6, 2023, during a visit to Tashkent, the President of the Turkic Academy Shahin Mustafayev met with the President of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Uzbekistan Behzod Yuldashev. Bahrom Abdukhalimov, the Vice-President of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Director of the Abu Rayhan Biruni Institute of Oriental Studies also attended the meeting.
The parties discussed issues of further development of cooperation in the field of science. In particular, the topic of organizing joint events to activate the Union of National Academies of the Turkic World was considered. In addition, the parties agreed to organize an international conference in Uzbekistan in 2023, in honor of the 1050th anniversary of Biruni. At the end of the meeting, a memorandum of cooperation was signed between the Turkic Academy and the Abu Rayhan Biruni Institute of Oriental Studies of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
