The Turkic Academy and the Ministry of Culture of Pakistan Discussed Opportunities for Cooperation

As part of his visit to the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, Vice President of the Turkic Academy Askhat Kessikbayev met today with Additional Secretary of the Ministry of National Heritage and Culture of Pakistan, Mr. Asad Rehman Gilani.

Askhat Kessikbayev conveyed warm regards on behalf of the President of the Academy, Prof. Dr. Shahin Mustafayev, and presented the activities of the international organization, its scientific priorities and initiatives aimed at establishing a unified scientific space in the Turkic world.

During the meeting, he emphasized that the formation of the Indo-Muslim civilization is closely linked to the Turkic-Muslim peoples of Central Asia, their prominent rulers and figures of culture and science. Vice President noted that in recent years, scientific cooperation between the Turkic Academy and Pakistan has been developing systematically, and he recalled several important joint initiatives. In particular, he mentioned the “Al-Farabi Global Forum” held in Islamabad in 2020, as well as the international forum “Al-Farabi – Iqbal,” which was organized in 2022 in Almaty by the Turkic Academy in collaboration with Al-Farabi Kazakh National University and COMSTECH. Additionally, Askhat Kessikbayev highlighted that, as part of efforts to promote the intellectual legacy of the great thinker Muhammad Iqbal, the Academy published his works in Azerbaijani as a separate volume.

In turn, Additional Secretary Asad Rehman Gilani expressed sincere interest in the Academy’s work and affirmed readiness to expand cooperation through archaeological institutions under the ministry, establishing partnerships with similar centers in the member countries of the Academy. He also emphasized the potential for collaboration within scientific and cultural projects involving the national libraries overseen by the ministry.

The meeting was held with the support of the Embassy of the Republic of Kazakhstan in the Islamic Republic of Pakistan.
