On June 3rd of this year, President of the Turkic Academy Shahin Mustafayev participated in a special session of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences (ANAS) held in Baku. The occasion marked a meeting with Nobel laureate and Professor at the University of North Carolina in the USA, Aziz Sancar.
Alongside President of the Academy, the meeting was attended by President of the ANAS Isa Habibbeyli, Chairman of the Higher Attestation Commission Famil Mustafayev, Chairman of the Union of Writers of Azerbaijan and People's Writer Anar, Chairman of the Press Council of Azerbaijan Rashad Majid, as well as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Türkiye to Azerbaijan Cahit Bağcı. The gathering also included members of the ANAS Presidium, directors of scientific institutions and organizations, rectors of higher education institutions and young scientists.
As part of the event, an office dedicated to Aziz Sancar was inaugurated near the ANA-TUBITAK coordination center, housed in the ANA Presidium building. Participants at the opening ceremony penned their warm regards in the center's guestbook.
Following the ceremony, attendees had the opportunity to explore an exhibition showcasing the outcomes of scientific research conducted by the National Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan.
Academician Isa Habibbeyli, commencing the meeting with an inaugural address, underscored the profound impact of Nobel laureate Aziz Sanjar's scientific contributions on global progress. He further highlighted the Azerbaijani people's profound admiration for Aziz Sancar, along with the notable fact that the head of state, Ilham Aliyev engaged in three distinct meetings with the esteemed scientist.
At the conclusion of his address, the President of the Academy of Sciences conferred upon the distinguished guest an honorary title and a special medal.
During his remarks on the scientific policy of the Turkic world and the deepening of scientific cooperation, Aziz Sancar extended a special tribute to the current President of the Turkic Academy Shahin Mustafayev, culminating in the presentation of a prestigious medal.
