Project Title: Oghuz-Kipchak Monuments in the Mangystau (Mangyshlak) Region
Organizer: Turkic Academy
Implementation Period: 2023–2025
Description: The Mangystau (Mangyshlak) region of Kazakhstan is one of the most significant areas for the study of the history and culture of Turkic peoples. For centuries, this region served as a key transit route from East to West—from Central Asia to Iran and the Caucasus—becoming a homeland for various communities throughout history. As a result, numerous cultural monuments left behind by the Oghuz and Kipchak tribes have been preserved in the Mangystau region. The goal of the project “Oghuz-Kipchak Monuments in the Mangystau (Mangyshlak) Region” is to conduct field research and scholarly analysis of these historical and cultural sites, present the findings to the academic community, and contribute to their preservation.
