Turkistan Hosts Informal OTS Summit

Today, on May 15, an Informal Summit of the Council of Heads of State of the Organization of Turkic States began in Turkistan, focusing on artificial intelligence and digital transformation.

The summit is attended by President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, President of the Kyrgyz Republic Sadyr Japarov, the President of the Republic of Türkiye Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev, and President of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus Tufan Erhürman.

The agenda includes discussions on the impact of artificial intelligence on economic development, strengthening regional integration, and advancing joint initiatives in digital technologies and innovation.

President of the Turkic Academy, Prof. Dr. Shahin Mustafayev, is also among the participants of the summit, alongside the heads of organizations of Turkic cooperation.

In his address, President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev emphasized the importance of establishing a common terminological base for Turkic languages, highlighting in this context the significant contribution of the Turkic Academy to the development of the scientific and linguistic space of the Turkic world.

“In the era of technological progress and humanitarian integration, it is necessary to establish a common terminological base for Turkic languages. Recently, the Turkic Academy published an eight-volume terminological dictionary in English, Russian, and Turkic languages. This work will contribute to the standardization of terminology and the strengthening of a common scientific space.

In this regard, I propose the establishment of an Intergovernmental Terminology Commission, comprising representatives of relevant institutions and scientific experts from the member states of the Council,” the Head of State said.
